Brian Bullock

B.A. in Social Sciences with Concentrations in Anthropology and Organizational Behavior and Communication
Alumnus, Class of 2009

Brian Bullock relocated to New York from his native Utah to pursue a career in the financial services industry. Working in a sales role at companies including Morgan Stanley and New York Life, he counseled financial advisors on various insurance and annuity products and managed relationships with key corporate clients.

Yet, with all his success, Bullock says he knew the real key to advancement would be to complete an undergraduate degree. In 2005, he enrolled in the NYU School of Professional Studies Paul McGhee Division—attracted by its great reputation and its convenient, part-time course schedules—with the intent of majoring in business and continuing up the corporate ladder.

While working fulltime, Bullock immersed himself in his studies. His schoolwork changed his ideas about what he wanted to do with his life and his career. He realized he was interested in anthropology—the study of people and cultures—which he integrated into a new career path in adult education.

In May 2009, Bullock earned a B.A. in Social Sciences with concentrations in Anthropology and Organizational Behavior and Communication. He was awarded McGhee’s Herbert Jaffa Award for service, and also received the NYU President’s Service Award (for his work on the McGhee Student Council), and the Founders’ Day Award.

With future plans for graduate study and a career as a professor, Bullock recently began a new job as an enrollment counselor at Northeastern University's College of Professional Studies in Boston.
